Jumping into the Forex market without proper training, is like jumping into a pool when you have never learned how to swim. You could get lucky and be a natural born swimmer and take to it like its nothing. On the flipside, you could jump in and sink straight to the bottom. Learn these tips for navigating the market and improving your odds of success.

Make sure that the money you invest is money that you can afford to lose. Forex trading is risky business and everyone takes a loss at some point in time. Determine what you can afford to invest as your capital and leave the rest alone. When you are hot in a market, its tempting to start bringing over more money but things can change quickly in currency leaving you with nothing. Stick to your original amount and build it up from there.

Watch the home location of your broker when picking a Forex broker. The majority of fraudulent Forex brokers are located in just a few locations: Boca Raton and other parts of Florida, southern California, and Russia. Not all brokers in these areas are scammers, of course, but you need to use some extra caution if you see a broker is located there.

Dont depend on any insider tips or rumors you hear when trading in the foreign exchange markets. You never know when such a tip will truly pan out, and you could be facing a significant loss if you bank on an insider tip. Simply watch the market to see if the rumor pans out before putting money on it.

No matter how long you have been trading, stick to the rules you set up in the beginning. Doing well in the market is not an excuse to start fudging the rules you set for your trading plan. Its the time to adhere to them more than ever. You may need to tweak your plan, but make sure its a reasonable tweak based on your strategies.

Choose an experienced broker to help you start out. Ask around, and plan to do research before you choose someone to help you. An inexperienced, or worse, unethical, broker will tear down all the gains you may have already made. Choose someone who knows how to work with your level of expertise.

Exercise

Risk-takers do not do very well in Forex, so remember to exercise caution at all times. You might hear a few stories about people who risked some serious cash and had it pay off in a big way, but thats literally one in a million. The more common story is the guy who risked too much money and lost everything.

Always exercise risk control when trading. You can minimize your loses in the Forex market by always predetermining your exit points before each trade, never risking more than 3% to 4% of you capital on any one trade and taking a break from trading if you lose a predetermined amount of your initial capital.

When your fitness routine dictates crunches, sit-ups or other exercises for the abdominal muscles, take deep breaths from your belly while you do them. Belly breathing places a small but detectable extra stretch on your abs. For the best results, time your breathing to match your exercise, so that you exhale at the very top of your crunch.

Learning about the market before you start is key to being able to swim instead of sink. Just like you would not risk your life trying to swim without instruction, you dont risk your money without learning the best ways to navigate Forex trading. Taking the time to get a handle on the dos and donts, will pay off during your first swim in the Forex waters.
